Ordinance will create trail authority
Commissioners set adoption of order for May 1
From Mirror staff reports
HOLLIDAYSBURG — Blair County commissioners have scheduled the adoption of an ordinance at their May 1 meeting that will create the Blair County Trail, Park and Recreation Authority.
As proposed, the authority will be authorized to pursue trail, recreational ground and related projects and to work on such efforts with other organizations. The ordinance indicates that the authority’s purpose is to position the county “to be part of a nationwide trail and recreation network.”
Based on the proposed ordinance, the authority’s powers include “acquiring, holding, constructing, financing, improving, maintaining and operating and owning and leasing.”
The proposed ordinance also indicates that commissioners intend to appoint the following nine people to serve on the authority: Rob Crossman and Doug Brown, one-year terms; Ethan Imhoff and Rachel DiAndrea, two-year terms; Sherry Socie and Joe Keller, three-year terms; Mark Ritchey and Mark Perry, four-year terms; and Grant Wills, five-year term.
Commissioners Dave Kessling, Amy Webster and Laura Burke, who voted in February to move forward with creating the trail authority, have had no public discussions on who would be named to the authority or how long their terms would be.
