Imler running for 6-year term

Allegheny Township Supervisor Fred Imler has announced that he is running for re-election to a six-year term.
Imler, a lifelong resident of Allegheny Township and a 24-year experienced supervisor, said when he was a newly elected supervisor, he didn’t realize the significant responsibilities that are expected of a successful supervisor in Allegheny Township.
He said the municipality is complex, and includes thriving businesses and a broad residential area. The current board has worked hard to make sure there is a balance for all, Imler said, noting the township has an outstanding group of employees, including office staff, a 24/7 police department and a dedicated road crew.
The current board, with a combined 50+ years of experience, has renovated the office complex including the police department, upgraded equipment and continues to repair and maintain the roads.
Imler said he has been adamant on balanced budgets and remaining fiscally sound.
Under the current board, the township’s budget has been balanced every year. Employee benefits have improved and the pension plan is fully funded, Imler said, noting the board has achieved these goals without a tax increase in more than 20 years.
