Saylor seeking city council seat

Saylor
Devin Saylor recently announced his candidacy for Altoona City Council.
Saylor has served on the committees of multiple organizations, including the Blair County Chamber of Commerce, and founded the Redd Up Altoona Foundation. At 25 years old, he was appointed to the city’s planning commission.
Saylor’s platform includes developing a culture that inspires young people to be a part of their community, building affordable and desirable housing options, providing public amenities for public spaces and improving the city’s capacity for public outreach and transparency.
Policies would include advocating for a “Next Generation” Commission, expanding resources for blight demolition, the installation of trash cans in areas with high concentrations of litter and expanding social media policy for the city to better serve the public in providing information.
In terms of professional experience, Saylor currently works for the Blair County Assessment Office and is responsible for market assessments of commercial and residential properties across nine municipalities. Prior to this, Saylor worked in digital content marketing for 10 years, a profession that requires quickly digesting information and communicating those ideas to people both visually and audibly. He also has overseen commercial land development while on the planning commission.
Saylor is running his campaign to not only get a new generation excited about the future of Altoona, but to educate voters on the challenges and potential solutions for the city moving forward.
