Chamber sets meeting on Christmas trip

The Blair County Chamber of Commerce will hold an informational meeting April 14 for their Magical Christmas Markets trip to Austria and Germany.

The meeting will be at 6 p.m. April 14 at the Devorris Center for Business Development, 3900 Industrial Park Drive, Altoona. There is no obligation or cost to attend. To register, call the chamber at 814-943-8151 or register online at www.blairchamber.com.

Huntingdon Area School District celebrates milestone

The Huntingdon Area School District announced the successful installation of solar arrays at Standing Stone Elementary School and Huntingdon Area Middle School. The systems reflect the district’s dedication to energy efficiency and enhancing educational opportunities.

Standing Stone Elementary School now boasts a 327 kW DC solar array projected to generate approximately 59% of its energy needs, while Huntingdon Area Middle School benefits from a 377 kW DC solar array, anticipated to cover around 69% of its energy usage after the project’s completion. Together, these installations are set to substantially lower operating costs.

Hoppy Valley Brewers Fest returns for 2025

The Hoppy Valley Brewers Fest will return for 2025, offering beer enthusiasts a tailgate experience on July 19.

The event will take place from 3 to 8 p.m. for VIP ticket holders and 4 to 8 p.m. for general admission. Due to ongoing renovations at Beaver Stadium through 2027, this year’s event moves to a new location: the Porter North Lot with entrance at Medlar Field.

There will be craft beer, live music and local food. Attendees can enjoy top regional breweries, live entertainment and delicious offerings, including Uncle John’s Jawns cheesesteaks and other concessions.
