Newburg to hold fundraiser concert
Fire company event to feature country artists Burk, Wilder
The Newburg Volunteer Fire Department will open its doors for a country concert fundraiser on Aug. 30, with Pennsylvania country artist Gary Burk III booked as the headline act.
According to firefighter Stephen Johnson, the show will open at 2 p.m. with Pittsburgh country musician Jack Wilder opening at 5 p.m., with Burk taking the stage at 8 p.m., ending the show about 10 p.m.
Tickets are available online through the fire department’s Facebook page, or in person at both the main fire hall or the social hall across the street, Johnson said.
General admission tickets are $20, while children ages 12 and under are admitted free of charge, he said.
If all 500 currently available tickets are sold, this would raise $10,000, Johnson said, which would go toward purchasing daily supplies and tools for the fire department.
Newburg hosts a variety of fundraising events throughout the year, such as Monday night wing sales and a gun raffle every September, he said.
These events help “keep the lights on” at the fire hall, Johnson said, and are essential to its continued operation.
The concert is one stop on Burk’s upcoming 10-show national tour, Johnson said, which is in memory of Corey Comperatore, a firefighter from Butler who died during the July 13 rally where then-presidential candidate Donald Trump narrowly escaped assassination.
Burk is from Chicora, a small town northeast of Butler. He has opened shows for a variety of country music stars.
