Body found in Cambria County fire
A reported brush fire in Cambria County turned into a death investigation after a burned body was found once the flames were extinguished.
According to Cambria County District Attorney Gregory Neugebauer, the body was found along Route 56, Haws Pike, about 2:30 a.m. Wednesday. Cambria County Coroner Jeff Lees was called to the scene when the body was found near the Cambria and Westmoreland County line.
During a news conference, Neugebauer said the death was suspicious and ruled as a homicide. The cause of death has not been determined.
Neugebauer said county officials are working to identify the victim and asked anyone who is missing a family member or friend to call the West Hills Police Department. The victim has been described as a white male, in their late 40s or early 50s.
The death appears to be a targeted incident and there is no danger to the general public, Neugebauer said.
