Cambria detective suspended

Cambria County’s chief detective has been suspended after she was charged with misdemeanor simple assault and summary harassment for allegedly punching her husband in the face after a Nelly concert at the Johnstown War Memorial.

The Cambria County District Attorney’s Office confirmed Kristy L. Freoni is suspended pending an investigation, according to WTAJ.

Freoni was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Susan Gindlesperger on simple assault and harassment charges after her husband called Richland Township police just after midnight. When police arrived on scene, they said his lips were swollen and bloody.

Freoni told police the two had just returned home from the Saturday night concert where they had been drinking, according to the affidavit. She alleged that she was sleeping and her husband woke her up in “an aggressive manner,” so she punched him in the face.

Freoni’s bail was set at $7,500 unsecured.
