Woman held in boyfriend’s death

Boden accused of helping shooting suspect dispose of body

A Bedford woman was arraigned on charges related to the killing of her boyfriend earlier this year.

Courtney Shianne Boden, 24, is accused of helping Derek Edward Ashley Louk load Tyler John Matthai’s body into Louk’s pickup truck after Louk allegedly shot and killed Matthai during an altercation in April.

Boden was arraigned Friday afternoon before Magisterial District Judge Kevin R. Diehl on a misdemeanor charge of abuse of a corpse and four misdemeanor charges of tampering with evidence. Unable to post $40,000 bail, she was remanded to the Bedford County Correctional Facility. Her preliminary hearing is set for Nov. 23 before Diehl.

According to court documents, Louk confessed to police in May to shooting and killing Matthai, after Matthai and Boden got into an altercation outside Louk’s residence at 363 Louks Lane, Cumberland Valley Township, Bedford County.

Louk told police he burned Matthai’s body in a large pit with tires and kerosene.

Matthai’s remains were recovered by police on May 14 by forensic anthropologists, police stated.

In May, police spoke with Jordon Alexander Robertson, who said Boden asked him to help dispose of the body.

On Oct. 5, police interviewed Boden, who said she saw Louk shoot and kill Matthai. Boden told police that she helped Louk put Matthai’s body in Louk’s truck and Louk took the body to her former residence, 7290 Bedford Valley Road, where he hid the body in the garage.

After the body was hidden in the garage, Boden said she asked Robertson for help with disposing of the body. Boden admitted to having discussed with Louk in the weeks after the killing the need to dispose of evidence, police reported. She also tried to sell the AR-15 Louk used to kill Matthai and discussed getting rid of their cellphones and sim cards, court documents state.

Boden told police she cleaned blood from her car and continued to use the vehicle after the homicide, the report states.

For his part in the incident, Robertson faces a misdemeanor charge of abuse of a corpse and two misdemeanor charges of tampering with evidence. On Oct. 26, his charges were waived for court and he is currently awaiting a pretrial conference.

Louk faces a number of charges, including murder of the third degree, murder of the first degree, criminal homicide, aggravated assault, abuse of a corpse, tampering with evidence, simple assault and recklessly endangering another person. Those charges were bound over for a jury trial. A call of the list is set for Nov. 30, according to court documents in the case.
