Funeral home marking International Dog Day

In recognition of International Dog Day on Aug. 26, Koch Funeral Home is inviting community members to stop by and meet Monroe and her handler, Karen Keller. Monroe and Keller are certified by Therapy Dogs International, and are available to provide companionship and comfort at arrangement meetings, visitations and services.

Community members are invited to stop by the funeral home at 2401 S. Atherton St. between 2:30 and 4:30 p.m. to learn more about the therapy dog program.

Abington Equine Hospital’s surgical facility now open

Abington Equine Hospital’s new surgical facility is now open at 156 Abington Lane in Port Matilda.

Abington Equine Hospital provides the growing equestrian community in central Pennsylvania with immediate access to state-of-the art, life-saving surgical and medical procedures and treatments.

A $370,000 state grant assisted Abington Equine Hospital with development of the region’s only full-service equine surgical facility.

The overall $2.4 million project allows the hospital to provide an array of advanced surgical procedures, with five stalls for horses, two surgery rooms, an examination area, consultation room, treatment rooms, offices, laundry and other support spaces.
