Police probe Bedford homicide

Louk arraigned on first degree murder charge

State police are investigating a homicide that happened Friday in Bedford County, and have a suspect in custody, according to a press release.

Derek Edward Ashley Louk, 28, of Bedford was arraigned Saturday morning by Magisterial District Judge Kevin R. Diehl on charges of criminal homicide, murder of the first degree, murder of the third degree, felony aggravated assault — attempts to cause or causes bodily injury with a deadly weapon, misdemeanor simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, tampering with/fabricating physical evidence and abuse of a corpse.

Bail has been denied and he is being held in the Bedford County Correctional Facility, according to court documents.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 25 in Bedford County Central Court.

The homicide occurred along Louks Lane, Cumberland Valley Township, police reported. The investigation is ongoing.
