PSU student death ruled accidental
From Mirror staff reports
The State College Police Department officially announced that the death of 19-year-old Penn State student Justine Gross was ruled accidental with no evidence of foul play.
The New Jersey teen was reported missing on Nov. 11, 2021. Her body was found the next day in a waste receptacle that originated from the ground floor of her Beaver Terrace apartment on Beaver Avenue, police said.
Video evidence showed Gross was alone in the waste disposal room when she fell into an 11th floor solid waste disposal chute about 11:30 p.m. Nov. 10, 2021.
The Centre County Coroner’s Office said Gross died as a result of “multiple acute blunt force trauma due to a fall” and ruled the death an accident. The coroner’s office said toxicology results show that there was THC and alcohol in her system.
Because there is no new information to indicate that the death is criminal in nature, the State College Police Department is concluding its investigation, according to WTAJ reports.
