Two hurt, one seriously, in Nov. 30 accident

State police at Hollidaysburg are investigating a single-vehicle accident last week in Snyder Township that left one patient with serious injuries.

According to a police report, two people were injured when the operator of a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado lost control and crashed into a tree at 11:01 a.m. Nov. 30, on state game lands at 158 Access Road, Snyder Township.

Police said the gravel road was covered with a mixture of ice and snow at the time of the accident.

Both occupants of the vehicle were transported via AMED to UPMC Altoona for treatment of injuries suffered in the crash. Neither occupant was wearing a seat belt, police said.

The passenger of the vehicle, a 59-year-old male, suffered serious injuries, police said.

The report stated the vehicle’s driver, an 89-year-old male, was treated for minor injuries.

Police investigate Logan Township hit-and-run

A hit-and-run last week in Logan Township is being investigated by state police, according to a report.

Troopers said a dark colored SUV fled the scene after it collided with another vehicle Friday at 17th Street and the I-99 ramp in Logan Township.

According to the police report, the SUV struck the passenger side of a 2014 Jeep Patriot as the Jeep was turning from 17th Street onto the I-99 ramp.

The SUV continued onto I-99 without stopping.

The female driver of the Jeep was not injured, police reported.

Woman faces assault, child endangerment counts

A city woman faces charges for allegedly assaulting a woman and a 1-year-old child during an argument, court documents stated.

Tara Jean Skipper, 45, was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Fred B. Miller on a felony charge of endangering the welfare of children during an incident Saturday on the 2200 block of Sixth Avenue.

Police said a 1-year-old child allegedly under Skipper’s care was found covered in feces, and another victim claimed Skipper allegedly assaulted her and the child.

Skipper, who was also charged with simple assault and harassment, was released on unsecured bail of $30,000.

She is to appear Dec. 15 for a preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge Benjamin F. Jones.
