Blair pays more for HVAC work

HOLLIDAYSBURG — Blair County commissioners have authorized paying $4,020 more toward the cost of replacing a heating, ventilating and air conditioning coil at the prison.

Siemens Industry Inc. of Pittsburgh asked for a higher payment based on how the work progressed and what the company said was two additional days of mechanical crew work.

Commissioner Amy Webster credited Brian Wiser of Keller Engineers and Jim Pooler, facilities maintenance coordinator, for reviewing the company’s request for an additional payment and negotiating the lower amount, based on the terms of the contract the county signed with the company.

Because of the additional work, the cost of the coil replacement job totaled $55,868 instead of the original contract cost of $51,847, Pooler said.
