Planners support waterline funding

Blair County Planning Commission members Thursday agreed to send letters of support for Pennvest funding for two waterline projects.

The Martinsburg Municipal Authority is proposing the replacement of an existing lead joint water main between the Lock Mountain storage tank and West Allegheny Street in the borough, Taylor Township, North Woodbury Township and Huston Township.

The proposed improvements generally include construction of approximately 9,500 linear feet of replacement PVC C900 water main and all necessary appurtenances and restoration for the construction.

The Roaring Spring Municipal Authority is proposing the replacement of approximately 12,000 linear feet of 8-inch water main, 3,000 linear feet of water service line, and associated hydrants and valves in order to improve public safety by removing lead components from the drinking water system.

The project will also reduce potential line breaks associated with the aged water main.
