Ebensburg festival set to start on Friday, July 30

Event is July 30 and 31

EBENSBURG — The center of Ebensburg will be closed to vehicular traffic but open to pedestrians for a two-day festival the weekend of July 30 and 31.

Hosted by Main Street Partnership, the annual Downtown Shutdown and Homecoming celebration begins Friday.

“There are a lot of different activities happening throughout the day and into the evening — it’s an event that our community loves to celebrate,” said Danea Koss, Community Development Director.

Festivities begin at 6 p.m. Friday as the streets at the center of town shut down and a free concert by the Bachelor Boys is slated for 8 to 11 p.m.

Many of the downtown shops and restaurants are planning specials, events and live music as well, Koss said, adding that the borough’s website and Facebook page will keep residents and visitors updated throughout the weekend.

Saturday begins with a community-wide yard sale, a fishing derby at Lake Rowena and a farmer’s market at Penn Eben Park.

The day will also feature a 5K and 15K race on the Ghost Town Trail, yoga at the borough swimming pool and free tennis clinics at the Ebensburg Tennis Center, Koss said.

The Ebensburg Public Library will host an outdoor book sale, yard sale and basket raffle, and the Grove food truck will be on site.

The Bishop Carroll Girls Soccer Team will host an indoor yard sale, basket raffle and breakfast/lunch food sales in the high school cafetorium.

A backpack giveaway, hosted by Cambria Summit ABATE, will be held while supplies last at Lake Rowena.

A basket raffle will be held and nearly 30 baskets are currently on display at First National Bank, 111 W. High St., Ebensburg. Raffle tickets will be available at the bank all week, then onsite at Lake Rowena beginning at 5 p.m. Friday.

Homecoming festivities conclude at Lake Rowena with food, fireworks, a bonfire and live music by Flood City Brass from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday.

Yard sale maps are available at the borough office, Ebensburg Library and www.ebensburgmain
