Pennsylvania State Police said Aiden Strayer, 14, went missing Monday evening after leaving his residence.

The boy returned home to his family Wednesday evening, police said.

“We are thankful for all the volunteers that helped today,” State Police Troop G Public Information Officer Christopher Fox said. “It was an extensive effort by everyone involved.”

Officials from state police said Strayer was believed to be camping and more than 50 volunteers searched the area.

Officials from the Pennsylvania State Police, Department of Conservation and Natural Resources and the Pennsylvania Game Commission led the search with volunteers from Alum Bank Community Fire, Bedford Area ambulance, Blue Knob Volunteer Fire, Elkland Search and Rescue, Miller Fire Company and Shawnee Valley Ambulance.
