Blair posts videos to help voters

HOLLIDAYSBURG — Blair County now has videos posted on its website to provide voters with information about election procedures.

In one of two videos, solicitor Nathan Karn describes what county residents should expect at a voting poll when showing up to vote, including why voters are asked to remove campaign buttons or other visible campaign items before heading into the voting area.

In the second video, Karn describes how to cast a provisional ballot and the process for examining and counting those ballots.

The videos are intended to answer questions that surface with every election, Karn said, when he and Director of Elections Sarah Seymour spoke to commissioners.

In light of Tuesday’s primary, arrangements were made to upload the election videos to YouTube.com, with access to the videos through the county’s website at www.blairco.org.

“We don’t have enough space on our county’s website to host these videos,” County Administrator/Chief Clerk Nicole Hemminger said.

To see the videos, go to www.blairco.org and access the webpage for information posted by the elections/voter registration offices. That page features a menu of information links, including ones leading to the newly-posted videos.

Seymour said she also intends to use the videos in training sessions for those who staff the voting polls.
