Sheetz in national competition

Sheetz has been selected by USA Today as a finalist for the 2021 Best Regional Fast Food Reader’s Choice travel awards.

Local hotels earn awards

All four of Hospitality Asset Management Co.’s Wyndham Hotel Group properties have earned 2020 awards.

Days Inn by Wyndham Penn State, was recognized with the 2020 Days Inn Chairman’s Award. This property was also recognized as the No. 1 rated Days Inn globally from 2015-18.

Super 8 by Wyndham State College was presented with the Pride 2020 of Super 8 Award.

Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Altoona received the 2020 best of Microtel Award.

Wingate by Wyndham Downtown/Medical Center Altoona was awarded the 2020 Best of Wingate Award.

Hospitality Asset Management Co. operates 14 Pennsylvania lodging properties and five restaurants.

New pet store opening

Pet Supplies Plus will open Friday at 277 Northland Center in State College and will offer local pet parents a hassle-free way to find better products for their pets, while saving them money and celebrating the fun of pet ownership.

The store will offer grooming, self-pet wash stations, community room, a knowledgeable pet care team and carry-out service, in which team members carry heavy items to cars.

The store is owned by local entrepreneur Peter Manbeck, who previously worked as a securities lawyer in New York City for almost 40 years. As a community partner, Manbeck will work with local animal shelters, rescue organizations and nonprofits to host year-round adoption events, fundraisers and pet food and product drives.

Based in Livonia, Mich., Pet Supplies Plus has 460 locations in 33 states. Business hours will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. The telephone number is 814-996-4912.
