City police aid homicide suspect arrest

APD, Marshals apprehend Gates in connection with IUP killing

Gates

The Altoona Police Department and the U.S. Marshals Service worked together Friday to capture a homicide suspect in Altoona, an APD news release stated.

Johnstown resident Terrion Gates, 18, was apprehended without incident near the 1800 block of Second Avenue on Friday, police reported.

Gates was wanted in connection with a homicide in Indiana Borough, which allegedly occurred in October 2020, where Jaedyn Wright, 20, was killed in the parking lot of off-campus housing at the Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

Two other suspects in the shooting — 20-year-old Isaiah Moore and 17-year-old Isabella Edmonds — were identified and arrested in October 2020.

Police noted Gates signed a waiver of extradition and was transported to Indiana County to be arraigned. According to court documents, Gates also faces robbery and theft charges for the same incident.
