HOLLIDAYSBURG

Blair OKs agreement

Blair County commissioners voted Wednesday to approve an agreement addressing use of the convention center as a mass vaccination site.

The commissioners’ action follows a recent vote by the Blair County Convention Center and Sports Facilities Authority authorizing the use, through efforts being coordinated by the county’s Department of Emergency Services.

Based on Wednesday’s action, the county pledges to cover the convention center’s expenses, including a pro-rated share of utilities, based on how long the center is used.

HARRISBURG

Firearms permits extended

The Pennsylvania State Police has announced that Gov. Tom Wolf granted an additional extension to license to carry firearms permits.

Permits expiring on March 19, 2020, or later are now valid through March 31, 2021. The previous extension was set to expire Dec. 31.

The extension of license to carry permit expiration dates is necessary because of the closure of some county courthouses and sheriff’s offices, as well as other ongoing COVID-19 mitigation efforts.

A license to carry firearms is required to carry a firearm concealed on a person or in a vehicle. Any person who carries a firearm concealed except in his home or fixed place of business without a valid and lawfully issued license commits a felony of the third degree.

Starting at $2.99/week.
