A Bishop Guilfoyle Catholic High School student has released her interpretation of Ralph Blane’s “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas” in time for the holiday season.

Ellie Irwin, 18, daughter of Joey and Becky Irwin of Altoona, said her rendition of the holiday classic will be available for purchase and download at 6 p.m. today on all major streaming services, including Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon Music and Pandora. The cost is $1.29.

“Overall, I picked ‘Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas’ because it’s always been one of my favorite holiday songs,” Ellie stated in an email. “I started to feel a stronger connection to the song, though, when I played Dorothy Gale in P&J’s ‘The Wizard of Oz’ because of the Judy Garland connection. I wanted to put my own artistic spin on the song just like other great artists and musicians have done before.”

Ellie recorded the song at The Vault Recording Studio in Pittsburgh.

“I recorded all of the ukulele, piano and other electronic elements of the song independently. It was produced, mixed and mastered by Bob McCutcheon, who also produced my song ‘Sad Girl Summer,’ as well as new songs to come in 2021,” she said.
