City man held on drug, gun charges
An Altoona man is in jail on gun and drug charges after an alleged methamphetamine sale Monday night.
Tracy N. Bey, 23, of Altoona was behind the wheel of a vehicle when Altoona and Logan Township police approached him and two others at Eighth Avenue and 17th Street about 9:30 p.m., according to police.
Police said a handgun was found in the center console, and when Bey was searched after his arrest, officers allegedly found nine bags of suspected heroin, a piece of aluminum foil with suspected methamphetamine residue and $707 in cash.
Bey told police he got the money from an ATM that night, but couldn’t show them a receipt. He said the gun belonged to his girlfriend, but police said a check of its serial number didn’t come back to any owner. Bey doesn’t have a permit to carry a concealed handgun, police said.
Ultimately, one of the passengers told police she had just bought methamphetamine from Bey for $80, according to the charges.
Bey was jailed after his arraignment on charges that include felony drug delivery and carrying a firearm without a license. Magisterial District Judge Matt Dunio set bail at $40,000 cash and Bey remains in Blair County Prison with a preliminary hearing slated for Oct. 6 at Central Court.
