Bridge dedication planned

DEFIANCE — A bridge will be dedicated Monday in honor of fallen U.S. Army Ranger Sgt. David Leon Barber.

A native of Defiance, Barber served with the 75th Ranger Regiment, 1st Brigade, 5th Infantry Division during the Vietnam War.

He gave his life in service to our country at age 21 when on Dec. 21, 1969, the helicopter he was in was shot down in South Vietnam.

State Rep. Jesse Topper, R-Bedford, will be joined by Barber’s family and state and military officials at

11 a.m. Monday in the parking lot at 125 Hitchens Road, Defiance, adjacent to the bridge, for the ceremony.
