Volunteers, police search for man

Waschak last seen in Pittsburgh on Saturday

PATTON — Volunteers and the state police from Ebensburg searched for a missing Allegheny County man on Monday in Cambria County until about 7 p.m.

The man, Christopher Thomas Waschak, 32, of Pittsburgh, was last seen Saturday in Pittsburgh. A vehicle he had been driving was found abandoned along Route 36 in Elder Township, Cambria County. Volunteers and state police searched within a two-mile radius of Waschak’s vehicle.

“He’s been missing about 48 hours, so our hope is that he is out here and we can find him and get him any medical attention he may need,” State Trooper Cpl. Ted Goins said Monday. State police were called in to assist Allegheny County police after the vehicle was found Monday.

Goins said he reached out to Patton Volulunteer Fire Company Chief Patrick Wood on Monday morning for search assistance.

“I’m very pleased,” Goins said of the number of volunteers who started to search about 4:30 p.m. A drone from Cambria County EMS also was being used in the search.

Waschak was last seen wearing a black hoodie, black Nike baseball hat, black golf shirt, khaki-colored pants and Air Jordans.

Anyone with information is asked to call Allegheny County police at 412-388-5300.
