Logan Township has issued a ban on all open burning except for recreational fires because the hot weather and lack of rain make conditions ideal for brush fires, according to a township police department release.

The burning ban is in effect until the Aug. 27 township supervisors meeting, when the board will reconsider the ban.

The township is asking all residents to comply with the ban and report violations by calling 949-3364 between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. or 940-5952 after hours.
