Huntingdon creates county CARES funding

HUNTINGDON — The Huntingdon County commissioners have voted to create the county CARES Act Funding to assist small businesses and nonprofits affected by COVID-19 public health crisis in support of grant programs in support of small business and nonprofit organizations.

The programs will be funded by the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act, provided to the county by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania under the COVID-19 County Relief Block Grant.

An initial amount of $4,076,903 is available for approved grant awards through Dec. 30, 2020. All projects and reimbursement requests must be completed by the designated date.

The program will provide immediate relief to small businesses and nonprofits impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Huntingdon County hopes to help small businesses and nonprofits remain in business through the pandemic, retain employees and be prepared to grow in the future. Also available are funds for broadband communication to unserved and underserved locations.

Grant awards are available up to $10,000.

Applications are available online at www.huntingdon county.net or at the commissioners’ office at 233 Penn St., Huntingdon. Applications will be accepted until Aug. 28. For more information, contact the commissioners’ office at 814-643-3091.
