Claysburg woman faces charges

Police: Paris pulled kids on bikes behind vehicle

A Claysburg woman is facing charges of endangering the welfare of children after allegedly tying a towel to the rear hatch of her vehicle and pulling two children on bicycles, causing them to fall.

According to charges filed by Greenfield Township police, on July 23, Nichole M. Paris, 34, was called to give the two juvenile boys a ride home after a bike ride but could not fit the bikes into her vehicle.

Police said Paris “came up with the idea” to place a towel in the rear hatch and have the children hold onto the towel as she drove the vehicle, pulling them behind.

Police said that as Paris was driving, one of the boys lost his grip on the towel and fell off his bicycle. The boy riding the second bike then ran over him.

Paris was charged by summons and faces a preliminary hearing on Sept. 17 in front of Magisterial District Judge Andrew Blattenberger.
