Area airports awarded CARES funding

U.S. Rep. John Joyce, R-13th District, announced Friday that the Federal Aviation Administration’s Airport Improvement Program has awarded grants to two area airports, including the Altoona-Blair County Airport, totaling more than

$6.5 million.

The Arnold Palmer Regional Airport in Westmoreland County will receive $5,159,843 and the Altoona-Blair County Airport in Blair County will receive $1,411,352.

The grants include funding authorized by the CARES Act to assist local airports with recovery from the coronavirus crisis.

“Our local airports offer important services to the people of Pennsylvania’s 13th Congressional District,” Joyce said.

“As the aviation industry faces unprecedented challenges, these FAA Airport Improvement Program grants will provide much-needed support to the Arnold Palmer Regional Airport and the Altoona-Blair County Airport. Hardworking Pennsylvanians keep these airports running, and it is my privilege to support them in their work to serve our communities,” he added.
