Unity march today
What started as an idea among friends has culminated in a march tonight to show support for law enforcement and first responders.
“It’s just to get everyone together because it seems like there’s so much division these days,” said Anthony Evangelisto, one of the organizers of “Building Bridges for the Community.”
The march from Prime Sirloin Buffet in Duncansville to Legion Park in Hollidaysburg starts at 5:30 p.m., with 4:30 p.m. designated as the gathering time for anyone who wants to join in what Evangelisto said is meant to bring the community together with law enforcement and first responders.
From 6 to 10 p.m. at Legion Park, there will be six to 10 food trucks, DJs and presentations by local and state leaders. Buses also will shuttle those who walk back to their vehicles in Duncansville between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m.
“It’s going to be a good time,” Evangelisto said.
Blair County Sheriff James Ott said he was proud and humbled when he was told of the march, one that has come together thanks to many local businesses and individuals.
“We’re blessed in our area to have a great rapport between law enforcement and first responders and the community.”
