Roving DUI patrols planned this weekend

Police will be out this holiday weekend to ensure impaired drivers are not on the roads and highways of Blair County.

“DUIs are 100 percent preventable,” said Hollidaysburg Borough Police Officer Richard Oldham, coordinator of the Blair County DUI Task Force.

DUI Task Force members will be out this weekend on roving patrols with the goal of keeping impaired drivers off the road. Oldham said that with ride share options like Uber and Lyft, there is no reason to get behind the wheel if you are drinking.

Oldham urged everyone to enjoy the holiday safely.

“If you go out with friends and family, plan ahead or call someone for a ride if you’ve been drinking,” Oldham said.
