City man faces drug charges

Barnhill

An Altoona man is in jail on charges he sold fentanyl and heroin to a police informant.

Gage M. Barnhill, 21, allegedly sold fentanyl to a police informant on the 1800 block of Sixth Avenue Alley on Sept. 16, 2019, according to charges filed by Altoona police.

Barnhill originally told the informant he could sell her a bundle of heroin for $70 and then told her he could put five or six bags of “fire fetly” together for her and told her she would be happy with it, police noted in the charges.

Police said Barnhill met with the informant and turned over fentanyl for $70 in the alley.

A few days later, on Sept. 21, the informant contacted Barnhill via Facebook Messenger and he allegedly told her he had “stamps” and sent her a photo of stamp bags of heroin, which he told her were labeled “Ebola, Empire and Round 10’s,” according to the charges.

The informant told Barnhill she had $150 and needed a bundle of heroin and Barnhill allegedly told her for another $50, he would sell her two bundles, or 20 packets, for $200. The informant said she could do that and she walked to meet with Barnhill, police said.

The two met on Caroline Avenue where Barnhill allegedly handed over a bag with powder and packets of heroin he had in his hat in exchange for $200.

Police said before Barnhill got picked up by a woman in a car, he told the informant he heard she was “a snitch” and she denied it.

Barnhill is charged in two felony drug delivery cases and had bail set $15,000 cash for each case on Thursday at his arraignment by Magisterial District Judge Daniel DeAntonio.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Aug. 5 at Central Court.
