NORTHERN CAMBRIA — A new child care center — The Learning Lamp Center for Children — is opening at the former Coal Country Day Care at 1102 Maple Ave., in Northern Cambria.

The new center will bring 50 infant, toddler and preschool child care slots back to the Northern Cambria community. The center, recently renovated using an economic development grant from the Community Foundation for the Alleghenies, is licensed by the state Department of Human Services. The curriculum is aligned with Pennsylvania Early Learning Standards, and staff is in place.

The center will be open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. Registration is underway, and the opening day is set for early August.

An open house will be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. July 15. The Learning Lamp staff will be on site accepting registrations, answering questions and guiding tours of the new location. Tuition assistance and child care subsidies are available for qualifying families.
