Police: Man was intoxicated on roof
Seale allegedly had child with him during incident
A Roaring Spring man faces charges after police say he was drunk and sitting on the edge of a rooftop with a 5-year-old child.
Matthew C. Seale, 29, of Roaring Spring, was arrested and charged with counts of felony endangering the welfare of a child and misdemeanor recklessly endangering another person after Roaring Spring police responded to 269 Main St. and saw Seale “sitting with his legs over the edge of the roof” with a small child “dangerously close” to the edge, according to the charges.
About 9:30 p.m. Tuesday police got a report of two children on the roof and when police arrived and saw Seale with the child about 25 feet above, Cpl. Lance Morris told him to come down so he could talk with him.
Morris noted in the charges that Seale said he didn’t think he was doing anything wrong and as he got up and started to walk away from the edge of the roof, Morris had to tell him to also take the child with him, according to the charges.
Police said Seale appeared drunk and smelled of alcohol and after agreeing to a preliminary breath test, Seale was taken into custody when it showed a blood-alcohol level 0.319 percent.
Police said two children, ages 5 and 8, were seen with Seale on the roof. Seale, the children and their mother had moved to Roaring Spring the day before, police added.
Seale was arraigned Wednesday morning by Magisterial District Judge Andrew Blattenberger and released on an unsecured $15,000 bond.
A preliminary hearing is slated for June 25.
