Grant will combat homelessness

EBENSBURG — State Rep. Frank Burns, D-Cambria, has announced that Community Action Partnership of Cambria County has been selected to receive a $166,000 grant to combat homelessness in Cambria and Somerset counties.

The grant was made possible by the federal Emergency Solutions Grant program, and was administered by the state Department of Community and Economic Development. Funding can be used to support six program areas: rapid rehousing, homelessness prevention, street outreach, emergency shelter, homeless management information systems and administration.

“With so many families struggling due to the ongoing economic hardships, this grant is critical to helping provide reliable and safe housing to folks who may otherwise be on the street,” Burns said.
