Cove prepares fireworks
Morrisons Cove Memorial Park will hold a fireworks display at 10 p.m. Friday, according to Chuck Gojmerac, executive director of the park.
Turkey dinner planned
The Robertsdale Wood Broad Top Volunteer Fire Company will host a turkey dinner starting at 11: 30 a.m. July 12.
Only adult meals will be sold, and the cost $10, and they will be available for curb-side pickup only. Children’s meals and special orders will not be available.
To order a meal, call 635-2495 after 11:10 a.m.
The fire department is at 6340 New Grenada Highway in Robertsdale.
Route 53 to close
PennDOT is alerting motorists that work to replace the Maple Street railroad crossing in Chester Hill Borough near the Clearfield/Centre county line will close Route 53 for two days.
RJ Corman Railroad crews are scheduled to begin the work on July 8. Route 53 will be closed between Water and Railroad streets while the work is being done.
During the closure, an 11-mile detour using Route 350, Route 3049 (Edendale Road), and Route 2051 (Curtin Street) will be in effect. Motorists are also advised that Water Street may also be temporarily closed during this construction.
Work at the crossing will include excavating the existing railroad crossing surface, reconstructing the subbase material, constructing and installing the new crossing panel, resurfacing the rail approaches and paving the roadway approaches and crossing surface. Work is expected to be complete by evening on July 9.
