Police: Woman crashed into car

An Altoona woman is accused of crashing her SUV into a garage and a parked car.

According to charges filed by Altoona police, 49-year-old Janet M. Webster told officers she “snapped” and was trying to prove a point.

Police were dispatched to a garage at the back of a home on the 100 block of Logan Boulevard about 2 a.m. on May 14, to find Webster standing next to the crashed vehicles.

Police indicate she drove a Chevrolet Trailblazer into a Buick at a family member’s garage. The force of the crash caused extensive damage to the vehicles and structural damage to the garage, police said.

The Buick was considered a total loss with damage estimated at more than $6,000.

The cost to repair the garage is estimated at $4,895.

Police said Webster was taken into custody and taken to UPMC Altoona, where she was admitted, according to police.

Webster was arraigned Friday morning on charges of felony criminal mischief and misdemeanor disorderly conduct by Magisterial District Judge Andrew Blattenberger and released on an unsecured $30,000 bond.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 3 before Magisterial District Judge Ben Jones.
