Joyce named to China Task Force
Group to probe Chinese role in pandemic
U.S. Rep. John Joyce, R-13th District, has been appointed by Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy to the China Task Force initiated by the U.S. House.
“The Chinese Communist Party lied to the world and allowed the coronavirus outbreak to spread to our nation, where it attacked innocent Americans and devastated our economy,” Joyce said. “This corrupt regime must be held accountable for the atrocities that it has committed. It is an honor to join the China Task Force and begin the vital work of investigating the Chinese government’s role in this pandemic. As the only doctor on the task force, I am committed to strengthening and protecting the supply chain at every level to ensure that we are never beholden to China for critical medicines and supplies. China has been stealing from America for far too long, and we need to stand up to this oppressive regime. We must not allow the Chinese Communist Party to profit from this pandemic.”
The China Task Force, comprised of 15 members of Congress, will examine China’s role in ongoing policy debates and pursue legislative solutions.
“As a doctor with more than 25 years caring for patients, John brings a deep knowledge of our medical system to a task force whose first priority is to figure out how we can bring our medical supply chain back to America,” said McCarthy. “Our dependency on China for (personal protective equipment), medicine and other crucial supplies is a national security and public health threat, and we need to look beyond the challenges of today to address the problems of tomorrow. His work on the Homeland Security Committee will also serve as a tremendous asset in this new role. I am confident that with John’s experience and expertise our task force is poised to deliver legislative solutions that will keep America safer for decades to come.”
