Fire at lawn business sparks investigation
Lawn Doctor blaze took 45 minutes to extinguish
A blaze that damaged a Juniata business remains under investigation.
City firefighters were dispatched to 1904 N. Fourth Avenue at 6:10 p.m. Monday and found the metal building of Lawn Doctor of Altoona-Johnstown-Bedford County on fire, Altoona Fire Department Deputy Chief Michael Tofano said Tuesday.
“When we arrived on scene, there was smoke coming from all the eaves of the building, and it was very apparent there was fire inside,” Tofano said, noting the all-metal construction of the building added to the time it took firefighters to cut through the roof and other places in the building to vent and access the fire.
It took about 45 minutes to get the fire out, and Tofano described the damage as moderate. Altoona fire inspector Adam Free continued to investigate the cause on Tuesday.
