Amtran plan gets positive review

Blair County Planning Commission members on Thursday gave a positive review to Amtran’s plans to construct a 4,800-square-foot storage garage.

The project also includes a paved parking lot, sidewalks and landscaping.

The parking lot will include 29 spaces including two Americans with Disabilities Act spaces, said Jamie L. Klink, regional planner.

Access will be provided by a 24-foot wide driveway connection to Fifth Avenue and a new 24-foot wide connection to an adjacent parking lot.

New sidewalks will be constructed along Fifth and Sixth avenues, and crosswalks will be placed across the proposed driveways as well as a pedestrian walkway along 31st Street, Klink said.

In other action, planning commission members approved a resolution to execute its master grant agreement with PennDOT for the Unified Planning Work Program from Feb. 27, 2020, through June 30, 2022.

The agreement provides the primary source of funding for the commission and outlines the work to be undertaken during the two-year period.
