Tax assistance offered
United Way of Blair County and the IRS have again joined together to provide federal, state and local income tax assistance to income-eligible residents of Blair County through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program.
Volunteers who are trained and certified by the IRS will be available at the United Way of Blair County office to prepare income tax returns for eligible Blair County residents, according to United Way Executive Director Melanie A. Shildt.
Returns are prepared free of charge for eligible residents. To be eligible for the free tax services, individuals must be filing a simple return and have low to moderate household income in 2019 totaling $56,000 or less.
Appointments are required.
Appointments will be held beginning Feb. 5, and will run every Wednesday through April 15. For more information about VITA or to schedule a tax appointment, call 317-5108.
