Plunge moved to Slep center
The Penn State Altoona Winter Plunge scheduled for Saturday has been moved to the Slep Student Center on campus from Canoe Creek State Park because of possible inclement weather.
Activities including Zumba and a frozen T-shirt race will begin at 10:30 a.m., according to Marissa Carney, the campus’ media relations coordinator.
There will be award presentations, food and chances to win a Winter Plunge beach towel or an escape room experience.
19th Amendment to be celebrated
On Tuesday, the Bedford County commissioners’ are expected to declare 2020 as a year of commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment to the Constitution of the United States, which gave women the right to vote.
The Justice Belles of Bedford County, a local non-partisan organization of community leaders, was formed to plan and organize suitable observances of the milestone. The Justice Belles will be present at the commissioners’ 10 a.m. meeting to read the proclamation, and distribute pins and information. They will be wearing suffragist white, and the reader of the proclamation will be dressed in period costume. This will be the kick-off to year-long events and activities.
