Warrant issued in stolen truck case

CLEARFIELD — A bench warrant was issued for a Munson man facing several felony charges after he failed to appear in Clearfield County Court for sentencing Tuesday.

Roland Edward Dixon, 69, was charged by state police in May with felony counts of conspiracy to theft by unlawful taking, theft by unlawful taking, conspiracy to receiving stolen property and receiving stolen property in connection to the theft of a 1996 Ford truck in July 2018.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, the victim said the truck, which had its engine in the bed of the vehicle, had been parked beside a garage in Morrisdale before it went missing.

The investigation revealed that the truck had been moved by Dixon, who took it to an auto recycling center.

When Dixon was questioned, he said he was given permission to take the truck from the property owner.

After it was explained to him that the property owner did not have the right to give the truck away, Dixon responded if he had known that, he would not have taken it.

The family of the property owner said Dixon, whom they did not know, just stopped randomly at that site, inquired about it and claimed he could “make the truck disappear.”

They told him it was not their truck and they could not give it away.

Another witness told police that he was with Dixon when he took the truck to the auto recycling business.
