Hunting death confirmed

Shooting appears accidental

A Tyrone man is dead in what appears to be an accidental shooting while hunting.

Blair County Coroner Patricia Ross said Monday night that the 42-year-old was hunting with another man when he was shot.

The shooting appeared to be accidental, but the investigation remains ongoing.

Emergency responders and police were called to a wooded area north of Tyrone, off Route 453, in Snyder Township around 6 p.m.

Ross did not provide the name of the deceased man Monday night and said state police were handling the release of the name and other details.

An autopsy is scheduled for today.
