Police: Duncansville woman’s home was uninhabitable
Dog, 3 cats removed from residence
An Allegheny Township woman faces charges of animal cruelty after a dog and three cats were removed from what police called uninhabitable conditions.
Jane A. Beerbower, 58, of 1000 Hilltop Drive, Duncansville, is charged with four counts each of neglect of an animal and cruelty to an animal after Allegheny Township police conducting a welfare check allegedly found her home in such deplorable conditions the front door would only partially open due to a build-up of filth.
Police noted there was about 12 inches of rotting food, feces and garbage on the floor, and a dog and three cats all suffered skin irritation and were covered in fleas.
One cat was extremely thin from possible starvation, and the dog was thin, nervous and covered in fleas with overgrown toenails.
The animals were taken from the home and examined by a veterinarian.
Beerbower’s court appearance has yet to be scheduled.
