Bedford County OKs projects
Improvements to be completed with block grants
Bedford County has approved several projects to be completed with funds from the 2019 Community Development Block Grant Program.
Bedford County has been allocated $257,337 for the County of Bedford and $104,310 on behalf of Bedford Township for the 2019 block grant entitlement program.
The funds are to assist low- and moderate-income people, senior citizens — age 60 and older — and the handicapped.
The funds will be used for the following projects:
Hyndman Borough neighborhood water line replacement, $120,620.
Rainsburg Borough water meter replacement, $51,887.
Countywide housing rehabilitation, $38,510.
In Bedford Township, the $85,535 in funds will be used for the Bedford Township Homeownership Assistance Program.
All of the proposed activities have been selected in accordance with requirements of Bedford County’s Comprehensive Plan, the Department of Housing and Urban Development and the Department of Community and Economic Development CDBG program requirements.
