Altoona man accused of fleeing Logan cop

Chesnet caught after striking curb

Charges of fleeing and eluding are pending against Donald Chesnet Jr., 27, of Altoona.

About 1:30 p.m. July 29, a Logan Township police officer on speed enforcement duty pursued Chesnet for traveling north at 56 mph in a zone posted 40 mph on East Pleasant Valley Boulevard.

With patrol lights activated, the officer followed behind Chesnet’s silver sedan for several hundred feet before Chesnet made a sharp right turn through the parking lot of Quick’N Easy Car Wash, changing his direction of travel to south.

The officer followed Chesnet, who sped onto East Walton Avenue and attempted to make a right turn onto Juniata Street at a high rate of speed, causing the vehicle to strike a curb, disabling the vehicle.

Chesnet told the officer that he was running because he did not have a license.

The officer ran Chesnet’s information through Blair County 911 who advised that Chesnet’s license was DUI suspended, and he was wanted out of Clearfield County.

The officer also searched Chesnet’s vehicle and found a suspected marijuana pipe inside an empty pill container.

Charges are pending at Magisterial District Judge Steven Jackson’s office for fleeing and eluding, drug paraphernalia as well as multiple other traffic violations.
