Fire destroys Lincoln Highway barn

Firefighters called back for rekindle Tuesday morning

EVERETT — Fire companies were called to a rekindled barn fire at 6:48 p.m. Tuesday on Lincoln Highway in Snake Spring Township.

First responders spent much of Tuesday morning battling a blaze at the barn.

Everett Fire Chief Charles Scott told a WJAC news crew that firefighters were called to the scene about 2:30 a.m. after a motorist drove by and saw the flames.

Firefighters from Everett, Bedford, Breezewood and Windber responded.

Scott said the fire started on the east side of the building before spreading. The Bedford County Christian Church, which is right behind the barn, was not affected.

The barn was a total loss, according to WJAC. It had been used to store furniture for Zimmerman Country Furniture.

No one was injured battling the blaze.

A state fire marshal was to respond Tuesday to investigate.
