Police: City man sold drugs

Charges stem from alleged meth sale in 2017

A city man accused of selling methadone in 2017 has now been charged.

It was almost two years ago that 25-year-old Zachary D. Bookhamer of Altoona allegedly sold 40 mg of liquid methadone to a police informant for $80, according to charges filed by Altoona police.

Police allege the informant met Bookhamer at his home on the 200 block of East Fourth Avenue, and after the deal, Bookhamer spotted one of the Altoona officers outside his home.

It was then that Bookhamer allegedly started calling the informant, saying, “You were never at my crib,” and, “Why are you texting me saying that you were at my crib?”

Bookhamer was released on an unsecured $10,000 bond on Tuesday after his arraignment before Magisterial District Judge Daniel DeAntonio.
