Flu activity decreases
Flu season stretches into May, but flu activity has continued to decrease during the past week in all state regions, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.
A total of 96,365 laboratory-confirmed influenza cases have been reported season to date. Confirmed reports were received from all 67 counties.
There are 133 flu associated deaths reported season-to-date, including two pediatric influenza associated deaths, the department’s website states.
While Cambria County started out far ahead of Blair and surrounding counties at the beginning of flu season, Blair has caught up.
From Sept. 30 to April 20, Blair has had 1,296 confirmed cases, and Cambria has had 1,102.
The past four flu seasons ended with Blair reporting more flu cases than Cambria.
