Hospital lifts restrictions

J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital has lifted visitation restrictions that the hospital has had in place since Feb. 25 due to the high incidence of flu during the past six weeks.

Infection Control Coordinator Shelly Brown announced to staff that the hospital could resume its usual visitation policies.

Blair County farm on list

A Blair County farm is one of 17 statewide added to the list of those under Pennsylvania’s Agricultural Land Preservation regulations this month.

The Robert O. Bailey farm, a 134.34-acre crop and livestock operation in Blair County, was approved for farmland preservation by a state board. The program buys easements to encourage future owners to maintain the property for agricultural purposes.

The state board at its April meeting safeguarded 3,134 additional acres on 31 farms in 17 counties.

Since the program began in 1988, federal, state, county and local governments have purchased permanent easements on 5,494 farms totaling 566,305 acres in 59 counties for agricultural production.
